Texas A&M defeated No. 1 Auburn in stunning fashion on Tuesday night in College Station.
The Aggies won 83-72 and led wire-to-wire against an Auburn team that entered the game with just 2 losses on the season. Zhuric Phelps scored 19 points off the bench as he helped A&M to one of the most significant victories in recent program history.

Texas A&M has been the best offensive rebounding team all season, but the Aggies really dominated the offensive glass on Tuesday night. The Aggies posted an offensive rebounding rate of 60%, which represents their highest total in a single game since they faced Abilene Christian on Dec. 28.
Texas A&M also had no issues getting to the foul line on Auburn, which has been a weakness at times for the Tigers this season. A&M shot A&M foul shots on the night, making 17 of them.
As a team, A&M shot 36% from 3-point range. That’s not an exceptionally-high number, but it is well above the Aggies’ average (29.8%) during SEC play.
This is a huge win for Texas A&M’s confidence as the SEC Tournament nears. The Aggies had lost 4 in a row coming into this game, but perhaps now will carry some momentum into the postseason. But first A&M will face LSU in its regular-season finale on Saturday.
