Gage Wood won’t be helping the Arkansas baseball team for about 3-to-6 weeks, according to Razorbacks coach Dave Van Horn’s comments on Tuesday ahead of a blowout victory over Grambling State.
But even the Hogs won’t have the junior right-hander for a while, it could have been worse, and Van Horn was relieved that his team would be getting Wood back at all in 2025. Wood had an MRI on Monday after leaving his start against Michigan on Sunday in Arlington, Texas, with a shoulder injury.
The team was ultra-cautious with Wood, taking him out of the game after he threw a warmup pitch prior to the 3rd inning.
“It was a good result for us,” Van Horn told the Razorback Sports Network pregame radio show. “It looks like he’s got an impingement in there of some sort. He’s just going to have to rehab it and get the swelling down. It looks like it’s clean, so that’s great news. It just may take a few weeks to get him right.”
In 7 innings pitched this season, Wood has a 2.57 ERA with a 0.71 WHIP and 13 strikeouts.
Wood was picked over left-hander Landon Beidelschies to be the Razorbacks’ Game 3 starter in Arlington.
