User Experience
The Airplane Phone comes in an ESR retail box. The front of the box has an image of the product in various mount stages and includes some information about the mount’s features. The back shows how the mount could be used easily on an airplane by clamping it to the tray table. Unboxing the mount was a little out peculiar because it has an inner cardboard wrap that doesn’t make it very easy to pull the mount out of the package. Once I opened that cardboard wrap, all the different parts came out.
The mount comes with a set of accessories that you can use to convert a non-magnetic phone into one that is MagSafe compatible. ESR includes a universal ring alignment guide for Samsung phones and iPhones so that users have the option to still use the Airplane Phone Mount. I have the iPhone 16 Pro so my phone was ready to go.
Using the mount is very easy. There is a lever on the back that you push down to open the clamp. The clamp opens up to approximately 1.25 inches and can easily slide onto a standard desktop. In testing this mount, I didn’t have the option to go on an airplane, but I did clamp it to a desktop, drawer, and even the side of my laptop. The padding on the clamp is soft but has a good grip on it. So I didn’t notice it moving around.
The head of the mount is quite impressive. It spins 360 degrees and can flip around to be used on the front or the back. This made it very easy to use this mount with a landscape or portrait view. One of the things I really like about this mount is that it gives me the option of using it on my desk instead of just keeping my phone on its MagSafe charger all the time. The head of the mount is very sturdy and doesn’t droop at all. Overall, I’ve been very impressed with this tiny MagSafe mount.
