Foreshadowing the death remains key in trying to solve the mystery — we know gun shots were heard just before the body was found, but that might not be how the person in the river died. We know we're headed for a violent confrontation, just like the ones we saw in Seasons 1 and 2, but we get there might be a whole lot different. The rankings take into account a variety of factors including proximity to danger, character conflicts, potential foreshadowing and thematic relevance — and then we can add in some hunches and vibes along the way, too. So, without furhter ado, here is the updated list after Episode 2.
Who Dies in 'The White Lotus' Season 3? Ranking the Possibilities After Episode 2
Fabio Lovino/HBO
19. Fabian
Chances are higher that we see Fabian (Christian Friedel) make it as a world-class pianist than him being the body in the river. While no one is truly safe at a White Lotus, Fabian seems to be about as sure-fire of a safe pick not to be killed as any other character on the show right now.

18. Pornchai
Pornchai (Dom Hetrakul) makes his first appearance on the list, but just barely. He's closely connected to Belinda, who I also think is pretty safe from being killed, and he's a resort staff member who seems relatively out of harm's way for the time being. At the moment, he feels like a supporting character to someone else's death rather than the victim himself.
Fabio Lovino/HBO
17. Valentin
Valentin (Arnas Fedaravičius) makes his debut on the list, and it’s entirely because of his suspicious behavior during the robbery. While it’s not confirmed that he was involved, the timing of his distraction at the gate is too convenient to ignore. If he was complicit, it puts him in immediate danger, either from the criminals he's working with or by the resort staff who find out he was involved. For now, he earns a spot on the list but he just doesn't seem like he'd be that interesting of a kill, so he's unlikely to be it.
Lisa Manobal in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
16. Mook
Mook (Lisa Manobal) drops a single point in the rankings this week as she doesn't really seem to be in any immediate danger. Her dynamic with Gaitok (Tayme Thapthimthong), who because of both being security at the resort and his connection to Timothy (we'll get to that later) gives me a slight bit of concern for Mook, but she seems an unlikely victim.
Natasha Rothwell in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
15. Belinda
Last week, Pornchai told Belinda (Natasha Rothwell) that in Thailand, they believe the spirits of the dead stay with people to protect them. While there are some bad omens for the spa manager, perhaps Tanya is there looking out for her. For that reason, and for the fact that her son's reaction to the dead body does not seem like the face of a child seeing their mother, we'll rank Belinda fairly low down on the list.
Lek Patravadi in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
14. Sritala
While Sritala (Lek Patravadi) drops a little in the rankings this week, she still seems to be in some danger as Rick overheard that she would be heading to Bangkok to visit her husband (and seems to be following her there). However, it's only her connection to Jim and Rick that has her in any danger. For now, she feels more like a potential power player than a potential victim.

13. Jaclyn
We get some indication that Jaclyn (Michelle Monaghan) overheard Laurie (Carrie Coon) and Kate (Leslie Bibb) talking, even if she didn't know what they were saying. It's for that reason that Jaclyn seems most in control of the situation (after all, she paid for the trip) and therefore, seems the most unlikely of the three women to die if things get more tense.
Carrie Coon in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
12. Laurie
While it seemed like Laurie might be the odd one out in the group, that might not be the cast as she has a confession session with Kate while Jaclyn is in the other room. Overall, this feels like the most unlikely group to face a character death this season but we'll slot Laurie in the middle of the trio for now.
Leslie Bibb in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
11. Kate
The girls trip continues to be filled with some seriously toxic energy and so far, Kate is very involved in all of it. She's the one having the conversation with Jaclyn about Laurie and then with Laurie about Jaclyn. It's for this reason that if things come to a head with the trio of women, Kate seems to be the most likely candidate to face the consequences for it. Any of the women still seems unlikely — their beef seems superficial rather than violent, but anything can happen at a White Lotus resort.
Aimee Lou Wood in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
10. Rachel
Rachel (Amy Lou Wood) makes a big move down the list this week for one main reason — as she said, "she could have died!" Her proximity to Rick still makes me nervous and she's arguably one of the most likable characters on the show (a trait shared by Armand and Tanya), but a close encounter this episode makes her a little safer bet to live in my books.
Sarah Catherine Hook in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
9. Piper
Tensions continue to rise in the Ratliff family. Piper moves up slightly due to her confrontation with Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) this episode. which comes after Lochlan (Sam Nivola) divulges that her brother thinks she is a virgin. Piper seems to be the moral counterweight in the Ratliff family and might not follow her mother's belief that the "family must stick together." With so much tension in the family, if this feud boils over, I worry about Piper getting caught in the crossfire.
Sam Nivola in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
8. Lochlan
Lochlan drops slightly this week but he's still in a precarious position. While I don't think he's the Ratliff who's most in danger, and a death would likely be one of the darker ones we've seen throughout three seasons of the show, I can't quite move him much further up the list. Lochlan seems caught in the middle of it all — he's somewhere between his brother's toxic masculinity and his sister's morality and faith, neither of which seem to be the right fit for him. It's his place in the middle of the conflict that has me worried for his ability to get out of the season alive.
Fabio Lovino/HBO
7. Chloe
Seems like Chloe (Charlotte Le Bon) might be more important to the story than I gave her credit for last week. As a result, I've not only added her to the list, I've put her rather high up in terms of chance of death. It's really her proximity to Greg that has me worried. If Greg is in danger, then so is Chloe, especially as tensions seem high between the two of them. Greg has tried to assassinate his girlfriend before!
Tayme Thapthimthong in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
6. Gaitok
Based on the deaths of the two characters from the first two seasons, Gaitok moves up the ranking this week because his death sure seems like it would be a tragedy. He has a crush on Mook (one that we're not entirely sure is reciprocated yet). Not only does he do security for a resort that has seen a lot of death, but he also been in the background of two Timothy calls. If Timothy catches on that Gaitok knows about what he's talking about on the phone, that might seem like bad news for the White Lotus resort staff member.
Parker Posey in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
5. Victoria
One theory out there about this season is that the gun shots are a red herring and that we may want to look at other ways someone can be killed this season. In addition to the monkeys, there is also the poison seeds. Victoria (Parker Posey) is seen or says she takes some pills twice this episode (once in the morning for a good night's sleep and the next before she gets her massage). If someone was to ingest some poison, there are some signs pointing to Victoria being that person.
Jason Isaacs in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
4. Timothy
The Ratliff family patriarch moves down a few notches on the list for one reason — things already seem pretty bad for him! He gets some rather distressing news that someone he was working with was raided and Mr. Ratliff will be implicated by what the feds find. His look back at his family after he tries to call to get a lawyer seems rather somber, so his chances of dying certainly still seem high. Plus, he more closely resembles the person floating in the river than a lot of other characters on the show.
Patrick Schwarzenegger in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
3. Saxon
Similarly to his mom, Saxon also is a character who takes pills (Adderall) but he also tries to make a smoothie this episode. If the seeds were slipped into his protein shake, he could be the one who dies this season. My list continues to be topped by the men of the show, something I am hoping for after The White Lotus has killed off a queer character and a woman in the first two editions. I was perhaps being too optimistic that it would be Saxon, he's moved down the list but still remains a top candidate. Perhaps he might not get the "happy ending" he was looking for.
Walton Goggons in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
2. Rick
We get some pretty upsetting information relating to Rick's childhood that garners some sense of empathy for the character. Given all that, his character gives off the vibe that he's a bit unsettled. We're not entirely sure why he wants to go see Jim but based on Rick's general demeanor, it doesn't seem like it will be a friendly visit. Considering the volatile nature of the character, we still have him holding in the No. 2 position.
Jon Gries in 'The White Lotus'Fabio Lovino/HBO
1. Greg
After pondering things over for a week, I think I was too lenient on Greg last week. We find out this week that he met his new girlfriend, Chloe, in Dubai and he is pretty tight-lipped about what he does for a living. The reason for Greg's death being the most likely, in my opinion, is that it ties together a cross-season narrative that would be rather satisfying for the viewers. We were all stunned when Jennifer Coolidge was killed off. Perhaps Mike White owes us one and we'd take the killing of Greg as some form of justice.
