The SDSU baseball team has gotten out to a 3-3 start in the 2025 season, with two of the losses coming from the Tony Gwynn Legacy tournament, an event that SDSU is co-hosting at Tony Gwynn Stadium from Feb. 20-23.
SDSU won its first game 5-4 Thursday in 10 innings against Seattle on a walk-off double from Jake Jackson. SDSU was up in the ninth inning, only for Seattle to tie things up at 3-3 to send the game into extra innings. The Redhawks took a brief lead in the top half of the 10th inning, but Jackson sent the Aztecs home happy with a double to win it.
Friday’s game was not so enjoyable for the Aztecs, as they were shut out by former Mountain West conference foe Utah 8-0. The Utes scored in all but three of the innings, and had 14 total hits compared to just four from the Aztecs.
The Aztecs have two more games left in the 10th annual event. Saturday they will face UC Santa Barbara at 6 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. Sunday match against Pepperdine.
