The Chicago Bulls could be without two more rotation players for Saturday’s afternoon meeting with the Phoenix Suns.
Already without Patrick Williams for the next couple of weeks, the Bulls saw both Ayo Dosunmu and Jalen Smith suffer injuries in their return from All-Star Weekend. Smith took a nasty fall on Thursday night and was eventually ruled out with a possible head injury. The Bulls have now placed him in concussion protocol, forcing him to miss their meeting with the Suns. We can likely expect the recently-acquired Zach Collins to play his most minutes yet in a Bulls uniform.
© Kevin Jairaj-Imagn ImagesAs for Dosunmu, he apparently suffered a stinger on his shoulder near the end of the game when trying to steal the ball from Jalen Brunson. While the guard was in noticeable pain, he came in today as questionable on the official injury report. The Bulls have acted out of an abundance of caution with injuries this season and have multiple guards on the roster, so I wouldn’t necessarily be shocked if they give him the day off. At the same time, Dosunmu’s transition talents could come up especially big against a team like the Suns. Phoenix has been among the league’s worst defenses in the open floor this season, as they’ve given up the sixth-most fastbreak points per game.
