(KRON) -- The San Leandro Police Department has released the names of three officers involved in a shooting incident with a vehicular assault suspect last Sunday.
San Francisco man arrested for months-long string of retail thefts: PDSan Leandro PD said officers were investigating a vehicular assault at 8:30 p.m. on Feb. 16 when police located the suspect and their vehicle in the area of 164th Avenue and East 14th Street. Police said shortly after a shooting occurred involving three SLPD officers.
Police said the suspect was taken into custody and confirmed that the officers and suspect were not injured.
On Friday, the San Leandro Police Department identified the officers involved in the incident as:
Officer Blake Staniford – 3 years' experience as an officer. Officer Austin Lovel – 2 years' experience as an officer. Officer Quinton May – 3.5 years' experience as an officer."We recognize the seriousness of this incident and want to reassure the community that it is being thoroughly and objectively investigated," said San Leandro Police Chief Chief Angela Averiett. "Our department remains dedicated to upholding the highest standards and adhering to ethical practices."
The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said it is continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
