News by : (mercury news) -

Farhan Zaidi, the San Francisco Giants’ former president of baseball operations who was fired last September and replaced with Buster Posey, is re-joining the Los Angeles Dodgers’ front office as a special advisor, according to multiple reports.

Prior to joining the Giants in 2018, Zaidi served as the Dodgers’ general manager under Andrew Friedman from 2014-18. Zaidi was also the Oakland A’s assistant general manager from 2011-2014.

The Giants went 453-417 in Zaidi’s six seasons as the team’s president of baseball operations. Aside from 2021, the year that the Giants set a franchise record with 107 wins, the Giants finished in third or fourth place in every year of Zaidi’s tenure. Zaidi’s time in San Francisco was largely defined by the team’s inability to land marquee free agents, namely Aaron Judge and Shohei Ohtani.

Zaidi becomes the latest former Giant to join the Dodgers this offseason. Along with Zaidi, left-hander Blake Snell signed a five-year, $182 million deal with Los Angeles while outfielder Michael Conforto joined the defending World Series champions on a one-year, $17 million deal.
