The SEC has announced some financial details for the 2023-24 fiscal year.
The league announced a total revenue of $808.4 million for the previous fiscal year, which ended on Aug. 31, 2024.
The SEC’s 14 full-participation members — excluding Texas and Oklahoma — earned an average distribution of $52.5 million, the league says. That figure does not include “bowl revenue that was retained by schools for bowl expenses,” per the announcement.
That’s up slightly from an average distribution of $51.3 million in 2022-23, per the league.
“As the entire college athletics enterprise works through significant change, SEC universities are uniquely positioned to provide new financial benefits for student-athletes while continuing to deliver transformative, life-changing college experiences,” Sankey said. “Beyond providing an exceptional, debt-free education, this experience includes world-class support in coaching, training, academic counseling, medical care, mental health support, nutrition, life-skills development and post-eligibility healthcare coverage for SEC student-athletes.”

The SEC’s revenue distributions are expected to increase significantly in 2025 and beyond. This fiscal year does not include payments received from the league’s new media rights deal, which began with the 2024 college football season.
