SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) -- Thursday brings another round of rain as the next atmospheric river system arrives in the Bay Area. Low pressure and associated fronts will move over the region, bringing rain, wind, and a chance of thunderstorms.
This system will be less impactful than Tuesday's system but still significant.
A flood warning along the Russian River in Sonoma County has been extended into Thursday afternoon, the National Weather Service announced. For the greater Bay Area region, there is a “marginal risk,” or at least 5% chance of flash flooding Thursday, weather officials said in an excessive rainfall outlook.
Geologists inspect mudslide near SF’s Telegraph HillA wind advisory goes into effect at 10 a.m. and continues through 4 a.m. Friday, NWS said. Wind gusts up to 50 mph are possible during the advisory.
“The combination of strong winds and moist soils will increase the risk for downed trees and a few power outages may result,” officials said.
