(KRON) -- A police shooting Tuesday night in Richmond resulted in the death of a person who was wanted on a probation violation warrant in connection to domestic violence charges, according to the Richmond Police Department.
Police responded at 8:13 p.m. to the 2700 block of Main Avenue in an attempt to find the wanted suspect. Officers located the suspect just west of the 300 block of Carlson Boulevard on the Union Pacific Railroad right of way, authorities said.
(Citizen)(KRON4)A standoff ensued after the suspect “refused to cooperate with officers,” Richmond PD said. The standoff continued for approximately 32 minutes when, at 8:53 p.m., police shot the suspect. The suspect was fatally wounded in the police shooting.

Contra Costa County District Attorney's Office investigators responded to the scene of the shooting, and the Contra Costa Law Enforcement Involved Fatal Protocol was invoked, police said. The protocol is a "set of guidelines and procedures" for cases of fatal police shootings.
