A missing Fort Bragg woman was found Tuesday morning after apparently spending the night in the woods, the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office reported.
According to the MCSO, deputies were dispatched to the 42000 block of Road 409 in Mendocino around 8:30 p.m. Jan. 27 when friends of Linda Doar, a 59-year-old Fort Bragg woman, reported that she had gone missing while mushroom hunting on Jackson Demonstration State Forest lands.
The group who went into the woods with Doar told deputies that “around 5 p.m., (Doar) had wandered away from her friends and they became concerned after she had failed to emerge from the now dark and densely wooded area.”
The MCSO reports that deputies “immediately conducted a hasty search of the area where (Doar) was last seen and she was not located, (then) returned to the area later in the evening and conducted a second search and were still not able to locate her.”
The deputies then “summoned assistance from the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue team and planned a first-light search for the morning of Jan. 28,” returning to the area around 7 a.m.
“As Search and Rescue volunteer personnel arrived,” the MCSO reports, Doar “had walked out of the woods and she was found near the Mendocino Volunteer Fire Station on Road 409. She had suffered a minor injury, and she was treated and released by Adventist Health Mendocino Coast Paramedics.”
