Tuesday racing tips

AYR2.30: Lady In The Park 5/1 each-way (1.5pts)3.05: Hashtag Boum 6/5 (1pt) LEICESTER2.20: Barlovento 15/8 (1.5pts)

Lady In The Park

Buy Some Time is dangerously unexposed and having won two out of two at Perth over 3m in July he needs considering back again.

One thing that can go against him is the fact he was carrying much less than the horse he beat comfortably last time out.

That coupled with a 6lb rise into this handicap contest could go against him, albeit somewhat with risk attached.

Horses that have looked like progressing often continue to do so but Lady In The Park also has a lot of pluses attached to her for a similar reason.

She was seen over fences three times this season and mostly didn’t go to plan despite a solid debut.

But she’s back over hurdles of which she has three 2nd place finishes and very consistent form over 3m.

The mare was carrying 4lb more than Shoeshine Boy over course and distance in February last year and only missed out on the win by less than a length.

Those weights are much more in her favour today, just as they are much more favourable than her last run out at Haydock, where she only lost to a horse carrying essentially 19lb less, despite only being rated 5lb less, albeit a five-year-old.

She should progress nicely on her second season hurdling and likely has more to offer.

Hashtag Boum

This is an interesting contest with just four runners and with one rated far higher than the rest.

That could go against him today as he’s carrying just that much more that could take its toll if they go a good gallop.

Duffle Coat, trained by Gordon Elliott, has shown great potential though placing second by half a length to Pinkerton at Galway in July in a field of 22 in the Grade 3 Galway Plate.

He didn’t go well at all at Listowel in the Grade 3 Kerry National, won by Flooring Porter, but was a 16/1 shot.

This grey is a difficult one as he’s mostly been seen in listed or higher rated contests and isn’t that consistent.

But Hashtag Boum makes a lot of appeal, carrying 19lb less than that rival.

She’s won two of her three chase starts now, only beaten by Jingko Blue, which has worked out very well on the form line and should be looking to capitalise on this small field with the weights on her side against Duffle Coat.

Barlovento

Carried a 7lb penalty last time out which could go a long way in explaining why he was nine lengths off the winner.

His win over Grand Geste at Carlisle in October has worked out to show it was no fluke and because it was so comfortable and that horse is now rated 111 after two more places, he’s got a great chance to progress here now.

Though he does have to carry 7lb more than the favourite who on paper is just 1lb less in the ratings.

But given his two 3rd place finishes it could be a slightly high mark given Zanndabad rated the same now, was over six lengths ahead in second place.
