Jack Edwards takes a jaw-dropping catch of Matthew Wade in Hobart

Well, then it was Mitchell Perry’s turn to steal the limelight by dismissing the seasoned Australian wicketkeeper-batter Matthew Wade cheaply in the crucial BBL 2024-25 clash. In the 6.2 over of the Hobart Hurricanes' innings, Wade attempted a fierce cut shot on a short-length ball by Mitchell Perry, but the Hobart Hurricanes wicketkeeper-batter didn’t keep it low.

After taking the stunning catch, Jack Edwards even fell on the ground, but he managed not to slip the ball from his grip, and that’s how the Sydney Sixers struck the second blow to the Hobart Hurricanes in the ongoing BBL 2024-25 Qualifier at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Tuesday, January 21.

Earlier, after winning the toss, Sydney Sixers captain Moises Henriques revealed why he opted to bowl first in the Big Bash League 2024-25 Qualifier against Hobart. The Australian all-rounder said at the toss, as quoted by Cricbuzz, “The wicket is gonna stay pretty good. It's going to be who comes tonight and plays the best cricket. That's starting to be the trend in T20 cricket—opting to bowl—so that you know what you are chasing.”

Moises Henriques further explained, “When you are bowling first, it takes longer to lose the game. If you lose four quick wickets on a wicket that you shouldn't have batted on, it's pretty easy to lose the game from there. It's a bit of a conservative mindset, possibly, but it seems to be working well.”
