DENVER (KDVR) — Pinpoint Weather Alert Days are issued through Tuesday as the cold air is sticking around in Denver weather along with more snow heading into the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day holiday weekend.
A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect Saturday until 5 p.m., with another 2-4 inches of snow on the way for Denver, locally higher along the foothills.
Temperatures will reach below zero this weekend. Wind chill will make it worseThe northern mountains and the high country will see another 4 inches or more of snowfall bringing totals to 6-8 inches. Meanwhile, the plains will get another 1-4 inches of snow through the day today.
Weather today: Cold with more snow
Winter driving conditions, busy traffic delays expected for MLK Jr. Day weekendTemperatures do not warm much on Saturday. Highs only climb into the teens for most of the state, with southwest Colorado being the least cold region. Winds remain breezy, coming out of the northeast anywhere from 5 to 15 mph. This will likely drop wind chill values into the negatives.
Weather tonight: Snow early, cloudy and cold
Bitterly cold temperatures along with light snowfall continue. Look for the last of the snow to wrap up right around dinnertime, leaving cold air under partly cloud skies. Overnight lows will sink down into the negatives, with wind chills even colder. Stay warm everyone!
Looking ahead: Thawing out next week
Temperatures remain very cold on Sunday and Monday. Overnight lows through Tuesday morning will be below zero with dangerously cold wind chills. Highs on Monday may only reach the single digits in some communities.
By Tuesday afternoon it should probably warm above freezing, but it will still feel cold thanks to a brisk wind. Another round of light snow may fall late Sunday into early Monday. Temperatures are likely to stay below normal until next Friday.
