A document published by the Kremlin highlighted that the agreement includesprovisions for strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
The signing coincided with Pezhkian's visit to Moscow. According toInterfax, the agreement stipulates that neither Russia nor Iran will allowtheir territories to be used for actions that threaten the other. Additionally,both countries agreed that, should either face aggression, the other would notassist the aggressor.
“This agreement creates better conditions for cooperation in allfields," Putin said, highlighting the significance of economic and traderelations, which are primarily conducted in the two countries' currencies.
Furthermore, Putin pointed to progress in efforts to construct a potentialgas pipeline to Iran, despite some challenges, and reiterated Russia’s opennessto continue nuclear projects with Iran, despite delays in building newreactors.
He added that the agreements reached would serve as another incentive forcreating a multipolar world.
Both Iran and Russia have faced setbacks, particularly in December with thefall of their ally Bashar Al-Assad's regime in Syria.
