Ustby’s 17 points came on an efficient 8-13 shooting day, and Carolina finished 29-56 (51.8 percent) from the field as a team. It’s the team’s second-best shooting percentage in a game this season (only a 56.8 percent performance against North Carolina Central was better) and the team’s best shooting percentage against a major-conference foe since February of 2024.

The Tar Heels shot 17-31 (54.8 percent) in the second half, helping them quickly erase a three-point halftime deficit and lead by as many as 18 points at 71-53 midway through the fourth quarter.

Carolina had led at the end of the first quarter, but Boston College shot 9-15 (60 percent) in the second quarter, outscoring UNC 24-16 in the period to lead 40-37 at the break. The Tar Heels then opened up the third quarter on a 16-4 run – with Ustby providing eight of those 16 points – to seize the lead back.

Reniya Kelly added 14 points, while freshman Lanie Grant contributed 12. Of the 11 Tar Heels to see action against the Eagles, nine scored.

Boston College’s 67 points are the most allowed by Carolina in a win this season, though the Eagles shot just 22-56 (39.3 percent) as a team. It’s the 13th time in 18 games the UNC defense has held an opponent to a sub-40 shooting percentage.

The victory improves Carolina to 15-3 overall, 3-2 in ACC play and 9-2 in Carmichael Arena this season. Up next for the Tar Heels is a trip to Dallas to visit ACC newcomers SMU on Thursday at 8 p.m. Eastern time.
