Following the broadcast on Friday, Jan. 10, Kotb opened up to Parade about her favorite thing that happened during the show, and it involved a very special—and very green—guest.

"So probably that," Kotb added, "and I think when Simone [Biles] and Maria [Shriver] came out, and just looking in Savannah [Guthrie]'s eyes, I mean it's all...I feel like I have a blender of emotions going on, like a tornado, and I'm trying to hold on to every little last moment."

"I would say he's an icon," she added. "A legend among legends...everyone knows and loves him...in fact, Hoda, you sing his most famous song every morning and every night to your girls. So I want to invite our next guest to come out and and sing it for you. Are you ready?"
"Hi-ho, Hoda! Hi-ho everybody, how are you? It's me, Kermit the Frog," the Muppet greeted everyone.
"It really lights up a room, doesn't it?" he asked, with Guthrie confirming, "It really does, Kermit."
Kotb wiped away tears throughout the song and sang along at times. Near the end of the song, her colleagues—including Guthrie, Al Roker, and Carson Daly—joined in.
