Full closures of a bridge on Highway 1 near the village of Mendocino are expected to begin again Wednesday, the California Department of Transportation reported.
According to Caltrans, “the next full overnight closures at the Jack Peters Creek Bridge on Route 1, north of the community of Mendocino, are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, Jan. 8-9, from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. to facilitate bridge falsework installation. These closures are weather-dependent and subject to change, and motorists are advised to plan accordingly. During the nighttime closures, emergency responders will be escorted across the bridge.”
Caltrans describes the project as widening “the Jack Peters Creek Bridge, originally constructed in 1939, to accommodate two, 12-foot wide lanes, two, six-foot wide shoulders, and a six-foot wide separated pedestrian walkway on the west side of the bridge, connecting the California Coastal Trail from County Road 500 D to Lansing Drive.”
The contractor for the project, which is currently expected to be completed this fall, is McCullough Construction.
