Jimmy Johnson left TV viewers confused with his pick on Fox NFL Sunday

While making quick picks, Johnson was asked about the AFC East clash between the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins.

Johnson, 81, is a Hall of Famer but appeared to confuse himself with his pick

He said: “Dolphins have a tough time playing in cold weather, [they have] a backup quarterback.

“I’m picking the Dolphins in an upset.”

Despite their much worse record, the Jets were the favourites for the game, but viewers were convinced Johnson meant to pick New York instead of Miami.

One fan wrote: “Perhaps it’s time to update the desk to align with the target demo.”

Another added: “Do you ever get the impression that the FOX pregame hosts never know anything about AFC teams?”

Some viewers, were much more harsh on the two-time Super Bowl winning coach.

One wrote: “Old men need to retire.”

Another added: “It’s about time that fox gets rid of Terry Bradshaw and has been Jimmy Johnson.

A third added: “The combined age of the panel 763.”

The Jets went on to beat the Dolphins with Aaron Rodgers producing one of his best performances of the season.

Rodgers, 41, is out of contract in the summer with huge questions over his future.

It remains to be seen whether he stays a Jet, moves to another team or retires altogether after he held talks on Monday.

The QB threw for 274 yards and four touchdowns – the most he’s managed this season.

Rodgers, who became the fifth quarterback to throw for 500 career touchdowns on Sunday, said: “I know I can still play.

“I know I can still do the things I need to do to be successful.

“It just comes down to the desire on their side and, ultimately, my desire to play.

“Going to take some time mentally and physically to rest and relax.”

However Rex Ryan, who is one of the front runners to return as head coach had bad news for Rodgers should he take charge.

He said: “Clearly, when you have a guy that doesn’t show up for mandatory minicamp – and, by the way, he’s your quarterback, coming off an injury – I think that’s an absolutely ridiculous message you send to the team.

“If he comes back, things would be different.

“If he’s back, it ain’t gonna be the country club, show up whenever the hell you want to show up.

“That ain’t gonna happen. I’ll just leave it at that.”
