She said the waiting lists for pre-planned care, also known as elective care, were “shocking” and that the new plans would “make sure that there is capacity in the system to really take on these waiting lists and get people back onto living with their lives”.
“Lord Darzi mentioned this in his report, that people are working so inefficiently in some places, making workarounds, that they are not getting through the waiting list as they would like to. And we know that’s really frustrating for staff.
She suggested the new locations would also offer staff more flexibility.
