Bangladesh cricket in turmoil after BCB Director Najmul Abedin and President Faruque Ahmed's fallout ...Middle East

News by : (cricketaddictor) -

Najmul Abedin has openly said that he would step down from his position as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Director unless urgent changes are made. Najmul, a respected local coach, was appointed to the BCB alongside Faruque Ahmed after the National Sports Council (NSC) made changes following the exit of former president Nazmul Hasan.

On January 5, Najmul Abedin expressed his frustration with the current state of affairs at the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), saying things aren't progressing as he had hoped. The board director believes that the overall direction is not right, and if it continues this way, he may consider stepping down.

With 40-45 years in cricket, Najmul emphasized that he knows the changes needed and was disappointed to see them not being implemented. Najmul Abedin was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz, “I didn't see so many things going according to my expectations. As a whole, the way it should go, it's not going that way at the minute, and things could have been better. If it continues to be like that, I may not like it, and maybe I can think of going off from BCB.”

If things remain the same, I will certainly lose interest: Najmul Abedin

Furthermore, Abedin revealed that the rift between him and the BCB president is well-known in the Bangladesh cricket community and said that it shouldn't have happened. He shared that it was he who recommended Faruque for the position, introducing him to others as the right choice for the job. Najmul stressed that there should not have been any differences.

Faruque Ahmed dismisses conflict with Najmul Abedin

Meanwhile, BCB president Faruque Ahmed addressed the rift with board director Najmul Abedin, saying it all happened because of a misunderstanding and communication gap. He insisted that there was no major conflict. Faruque emphasized that, as new directors, both he and Najmul had to make quick decisions, which might have led to the problems.

Faruque stated, “There's no conflict. Within the organization, there can be some problems, but nothing like that (conflict)," Faruque told reporters. There might be a communication gap in the later stage because I had to make so many decisions that I couldn't call everyone since I had to take those on an emergency basis. In that case, there might be communication issues. If anyone has anything to say, he can come to me and we can solve that.”
