Isaiah Bond to play in Texas’s CFP quarterfinal, per report ...Middle East

News by : (SATURDAY DOWN SOUTH) -

Isaiah Bond has been a key piece for the Texas offense in his first season with the Longhorns. Unfortunately, he was limited in the SEC Championship Game with an ankle injury and missed the matchup vs. Clemson in the opening round of the College Football Playoff.

Texas did receive some good news recently though as it looks like Bond is finally clear for his return to the field. According to a Sunday report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Bond will suit up in the Peach Bowl quarterfinal matchup vs. Arizona State.

It goes without saying, but that is a massive move for the Longhorns.

Bond is the 3rd-leading receiver for Texas with 532 yards and 5 touchdowns. He’s an especially important piece for the big-play ability of the offense as 1 of 3 current Longhorns averaging at least 16 yards per catch.

It’s also easy to see his impact on the offense as Texas averaged just 18 points across the games against Texas A&M and Georgia when he was limited to 1 carry vs. the Aggies and the single catch against the Bulldogs. Hopefully, he’ll be able to make an impact for Steve Sarkisian in the matchup with the Sun Devils.

A win in the Peach Bowl would send the Longhorns into the semifinals in the first-ever installment of the 12-team Playoff.
