Taylen Green and the Arkansas offense had already come out on fire in Friday night’s Liberty Bowl in Memphis.
Then the quarterback and freshman wideout Dazmin James found another way to punish the already-reeling Texas Tech defense.
On 3rd-and-8 from their own 6-yard line, Green and James connected on a history-making 94-yard touchdown pass to give Arkansas a 21-3 lead with still 2:31 left in the first quarter. The TD pass was the longest touchdown reception in Razorbacks football history, with James darting down the middle and through the Texas Tech defense to put the finishing touches on an electrifying first quarter of offense for Arkansas.

— Arkansas Razorback Football (@RazorbackFB) December 28, 2024It was also the longest pass play in Hogs history, with the previous longest pass play being a 92-yard connection from quarterback Matt Jones to Richard Smith against Tennessee in 2002.
James had another reception for 24 yards, as of late in the second quarter, so he was already over 100 yards receiving with still more than a half remaining in Memphis. As it turns out, Arkansas might need some more magic from Green and James on Friday night, because Texas Tech came storming back in the second quarter after the Razorbacks took that 21-3 lead after the first period.
The Red Raiders pulled within 21-19 with 1:58 left in the first half, setting the stage for what should be a frenzied second half of football at the Liberty Bowl between the 2 programs desperate to end their seasons with a victory.
