“My mom, she was the most funniest person ever,” Marissa Vigil, Montejano’s daughter, told ABC affiliate KXTV.
“Like I promise she would put a smile on your face. That was my person for everything.”
Vigil recalled the horrific sight she encountered when she entered her mother’s home on Monday evening.
The pain gets harder and harder.
Marissa Vigil“I found them. I couldn’t believe it,” she told the outlet.
“It felt like I was dying at the time. I couldn’t breathe, and I still couldn’t get the pictures out of my head.”
Investigators are describing the crime as an isolated incident and are now searching for Montejano’s boyfriend, Julio Valdez, 38.
Authorities believe Valdez fled the scene after the crime and could be driving a four-door gray sedan.
Stockton police said there were no signs of forced entry into the apartment and are awaiting autopsies to determine the victims’ cause of death.
Reuel died of lacerations to the body, but they are still unclear on how the teen’s mother died, authorities said.
“As far as the female, there was no gunshot, wounds or anything like that,” Stockton police told NBC affiliate KCRA-TV.
Raul Huerta, Reuel’s father, remembered his son as kind, loving, and with “the biggest heart.”
“There was no Christmas this year,” the distraught dad told KXTV.
“[Reuel] wouldn’t want clothes, he wouldn’t want nothing like that. He was smart, so smart, he made money on the computer. That was his passion.
“They both did not deserve this. We need justice.
“He had the biggest heart. He would not hurt nobody.”
“Christmas was hard,” Vigil told KXTV as tears streamed down her face.
“The pain gets harder and harder. We can’t sleep, we can’t eat, my head is not okay.”
At a vigil outside Montejano’s apartment complex, her heartbroken daughter pleaded that if anyone has information about the whereabouts of her mother and brother’s alleged killer to call police.
“It’s ripped a big piece of our hearts out,” Vigil told KCRA-TV.
“We want this man caught.”

Family members of Montejano and Reuel started a GoFundMe to raise money for their loved ones funeral expenses.
“It’s with the heaviest heart that we announce that on December 23, 2024, the lives of mother and son were both taken, who were senselessly taken from us too soon.
“Alicia was a 43-year-old mother of 3: a daughter and an aunt. Reuel was a 19-year-old son, cousin, and nephew. Together, they brought joy to all those around them and shared a family with an unbreakable bond.
“This GoFundMe is being created to ease some of the financial burden during this difficult time.” the post read.
