The Chiefs took home a Christmas Day win over the Steelers 29-10, securing the No. 1 seed in the AFC in the process.

While the win was crucial for the team’s Super Bowl aspirations, it was also vastly important for Travis Kelce‘s Hall of Fame aspirations.

Kelce had one of his better games of the season on Wednesday, catching eight passes for 84 yards and a touchdown.

He surpassed 1,000 catches in his career with the good performance, making him just the third tight end in NFL history to reach the milestone.

Kelce also became the first player in Chiefs history with 1,000 catches.

Later in the game, Kelce broke another record when he scored his 77th career touchdown.

That touchdown saw him surpass the great Tony Gonzalez for the most receiving touchdowns in Chiefs history.

Kelce paid homage to Gonzalez by recreating his touchdown celebration with a slam dunk through the uprights.

Gonzalez shouted Kelce out on X after the game and noted the special celebration.

“Congrats to my man @tkelce on becoming the all time @Chiefs leader in touchdowns! Keep blazing trails my friend! btw nice dunk,” he wrote.

Kelce was quick to respond to the honor from Gonzalez.

“You know I had to show love to the greatest of all time!! you did mention you’d help me with the fine tho,” he wrote.

Kelce now has 823 yards and three touchdowns on the season, raising his career totals to 12,151 yards and 77 touchdowns.

NFL fans came out in numbers to congratulate Kelce for breaking his team’s touchdown record.

“Greatest TE to ever play the game,” one fan said.
