Annual community brunch makes for festive Christmas Eve in downtown Anaheim ...Middle East

Santa Claus has a standing appointment in downtown Anaheim that he hasn’t missed in years.

And there he was again on Christmas Eve, meeting with local children and handing out early Christmas presents, making sure all the little boys and girls enjoyed some holiday cheer.

But the free annual community brunch hosted on the Center Street Promenade isn’t just about the kids, it’s been a welcoming table for those who might not have somewhere to go for the holiday.

K&A Cafe owner Kathy Cervantes founded the event, now in its 16th year, with her husband, serving breakfast for those looking for a community connection on Christmas Eve. Over the years business and community sponsors have joined in to grow the event.

On Saturday morning, dozens of volunteers wrapped the presents with elf-like cheer and skill, making quick work of the hundreds of toys that needed prepping for the brunch. It was the second wrapping party hosted.
