Authorities were called out to the scene just after 8 p.m. for a domestic situation. Audio from first responders indicated that someone at the home was intoxicated and was reportedly "throwing everything out of the refrigerator."

Moments later, a dispatcher can be heard saying "That address is currently on fire," referring to the home on Brian Circle, and indicated that there was someone inside the home who could not get out.

Dispatch audio indicated the victim was in hospice care.

Family friends indicated Christenbury lived at the home with his girlfriend and a child, and that the girlfriend's father had recently moved into the home to live his remaining days with family.

In a 911 call reporting the fire, the caller mentions an elderly man being inside the burning trailer.

Later during the call, an unidentified woman, believed to be the girlfriend, can be heard saying, "My house is on fire... They are in there. I think they are dead." She went on to say her father was still in the back bedroom and her husband was in the bathroom of the home.

Jennie Legendy, who was friends with both the victim and the suspect, said Christenbury had moved into the home earlier this year.

"These are not people who live a crazy lifestyle," said Legendy. "They're just two kids trying to start out, and whatever small issues they have, a common to all of us. There are no drugs involved. There's nothing like that."

Christenbury was also injured in the fire. According to Legendy, Chistenberry even assisted in trying to get the victim from the home prior to the arrival of first responders.

Christenbury is being treated for his injuries before being served warrants related to the case and will be booked in afterward, according to Gaston County Police.
