COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) – U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff’s groundbreaking legislation to revitalize Columbus’s water infrastructure has successfully advanced through the U.S. Senate.
Georgia Stormwater Management Act to upgrade water infrastructure for families and businesses across the Columbus area.
The bill would create a new authority for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to carry out water infrastructure projects across Columbus, which would upgrade quality of life and improve resiliency. The new authority is seen as a crucial first step to secure funding for local projects.
Sen. Ossoff said.
The legislation stems from a water main break that led to hundreds of families losing access to clean water in Columbus earlier this year.
