POLICE REPORTS The following were compiled from reports prepared by the Ukiah Police Department. To anonymously report crime information, call 707-463-6205.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Caller in the 200 block of Mason Street reported at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 11 that someone sleeping in a car had a “new electric bike.” An officer contacted the person.
CAMPING: An officer contacted a 52-year-old Ukiah man in the 500 block of West Perkins Street at 8:43 a.m. Dec. 11 and cited/released him for violating city camping codes.
HIT AND RUN: Caller in the 800 block of North Bush Street reported at 12:46 p.m. Dec. 11 that someone had hit “trash cans with their vehicle Sunday night.”
DUMPSTER PROWL: Caller in the 600 block of South State Street reported at 12:36 p.m. Dec. 11 that someone was seen “trying to break the lock on a Dumpster.” And officer responded but the man was gone.
SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES: Caller in the 700 block of Orr Street reported at 2:21 p.m. Dec. 11 that someone was out front with trimming shears. An officer responded and advised the person to move on.
FIGHT AT UKIAH: Caller at Ukiah High School reported at 3:01 p.m. Dec. 11 that a fight was occurring. An officer responded and arrested a juvenile for battery on a peace officer and school employee. The teen was booked into juvenile hall.
BROKEN SINK: Caller at Burger King on East Perkins Street reported at 3:32 p.m. Dec. 11 that someone broke a sink, but did not want to file a complaint.
WELFARE CHECK: Caller at Building Bridges on South State Street requested a welfare check on a “man and baby” out front at 4:47 p.m. Dec. 11. An officer responded and arrested a 27-year-old Ukiah man for resisting arrest and violating his probation. He was booked into county jail.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 200 block of Pomo Drive at 2:42 a.m. Dec. 12 and took a report of a death.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: An officer responded to the Sunrise Inn at 2:08 p.m. Dec. 12 and arrested Kelisha S. Alvarez, 36, of Ukiah, on suspicion of three felonies, including violating her parole. She was booked into county jail.
DEATH: An officer responded to the 1100 block of North Oak Street at 2:35 p.m. Dec. 12 and took a report of a death.
WELFARE CHECK: Caller in the 200 block North Orchard Avenue reported at 12:12 p.m. Dec. 13 that someone was refused to get off the bus. An officer responded, reported that the person was “intoxicated and transferred to the hospital.”
SHOPLIFTER: Caller at Safeway on South State Street reported at 9:29 p.m. Dec. 13 that someone was shoplifting. An officer responded and arrested a 42-year-old Del Norte County man for theft and possession of both drug paraphernalia and a controlled substance. He was booked at county jail.
The following were compiled from reports prepared by the UPD regarding calls handled by the Fort Bragg Police Department.
FOUND SUITCASE: Caller in the 100 block of Fir Street reported at 12:27 p.m. Dec. 11 that a suitcase had been found in the parking lot. An officer recovered the found property.
THEFT: Caller in the 300 block of East Cypress Street reported at 6:07 p.m. Dec. 11 that someone stole “a wheelchair and three boxes of cereal.” An officer responded, the property was returned and no prosecution was desired.
DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of South Main Street at 10:08 p.m. Dec. 12 and arrested Ellery Kleiwer, 33, of Mendocino, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The suspect was cited and released, the vehicle was towed and stored.
DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle at the corner of North Sanderson Way and Jewett Street at 1:58 a.m. Dec. 13 and arrested Armando Martinez Lozano, 57, of Fort Bragg, on suspicion of driving under the influence. The suspect was cited and released, the vehicle was towed and stored.
Those arrested by law enforcement officers are innocent until proven guilty. People reported as having been arrested may contact the Daily Journal once their case has been concluded so the results can be reported. Those who feel the information is in error should contact the appropriate agency. In the case of those arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of an intoxicant, all DUI cases reported by law enforcement agencies are reported by the newspaper.
