The project will contain a 266-bed hospital and laboratories specialising in oncology, women’s health, paediatrics, cardiovascular diseases, neurosciences, behavioural health and rehabilitation.
The hospital will be partly powered by photovoltaics, and will have a central canopy-covered area surrounded by a tree-lined park. The foliage will keep this area about 4°C cooler than those around it.
Renzo Piano, RPBW’s chair, said: “Hospitals are sanctuaries where healing begins and hope is restored, embodying compassion and medical innovation.
“Within their walls, every act of care transforms lives, reminding us of the profound impact of human connection and advanced science. It is a privilege to bring this vision to fruition and support the welfare of the Sharjah community and beyond.”
