Skanska has announced the signing of two major contracts in the US, aimed at enhancing the country’s infrastructure.
The first contract, worth $450m, is with the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) for the construction of a new parking garage and other upgrades at Logan Airport’s Terminal E in Boston.
This project will be included in the company’s US order bookings for the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2024.
As part of Massport’s NCEC Program, the Logan Airport project will involve building a new Terminal E Parking Garage over 67,400m².
The structure will house 5,000 parking spaces and include areas for ground transportation. The project’s scope also includes a vehicular bridge connection to the central parking complex and a pedestrian bridge linking the garage to Terminals E and C.
Roadways on the arrival and departures levels will be modified for better garage access. The installation of solar photovoltaic panels on the garage facade and roof, along with a Parksmart certification pursuit, underscores the project’s commitment to sustainability.

Work is set to begin in Q1 2025, with completion anticipated in 2028.
In addition, Skanska, in a joint venture with Coffman Specialties, has signed a $389m contract with the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority for the Interstate 15 (I-15) Corridor Freight and Express Lanes Project in Ontario, California.
Skanska will include its share of the contract, valued at $336m, in the US order bookings for Q4 2024.
This project will add two new express lanes along the median of I-15 over 17.4km, with toll facilities that are price-managed in both the north and south directions. The new lanes are expected to improve high vehicle and truck traffic in the area, reduce congestion, and save travel time.
Construction is scheduled to start in January 2025, with an expected completion date in July 2028.
In October 2024, Skanska was awarded a contract to build a new hospital and accompanying medical office building in Fort Myers, Florida, also in the US.
