December 10, 2024 (N’DJAMENA) – The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has registered more than 720,000 Sudanese refugees in Chad as of Dec. 9, fleeing the ongoing conflict in Sudan. The Chadian government estimates this number could reach 910,000 by year-end. Since violence erupted in Sudan in April 2023, a steady flow of refugees and returnees has crossed into Chad seeking safety.
