The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for Yosemite National Park (above the Valley floor) and the western slope of the northern Sierra Nevada, from 4 PM this afternoon until 4 PM Tuesday. Heavy snow is forecast for elevations above 6,500 feet. The snow levels this afternoon will start out around 6,000 to 7,000 feet, before lowering to around 4,500 to 5,500 feet over the weekend. The snow levels will then rise to around 5,000 to 6,000 feet, early next week. A brief break in snowfall is expected from late Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning with lighter snow showers.
