(KRON) -- Pete Hegseth, who Donald Trump recently tapped to lead the Department of Defense, was investigated for sexual assault in 2017, the Monterey Police Department said. MPD shared few details about the case but confirmed that an investigation happened. The alleged assault happened at 1 Old Golf Course Road, near the Del Monte Golf Course in Monterey between midnight and 7 a.m. on Oct. 8, 2017. It was reported to police four days later.
