Courtesy of the city Starting January 1, 2025, a new “daylighting” law that prohibits vehicle parking within 20 feet of crosswalks will be enforced across California.  The law also prohibits parking within 15 feet of a crosswalk where a curb extension is present. The aim of the new rule is to improve drivers’ range of vision when approaching intersections. The law allows drivers to be ticketed for violations, even if there is no signage or red curbs explaining where parking is prohibited.
