The rail fatality occurred in the area of Ashbury Street and North Vulcan Avenue in Encinitas shortly after 8:30 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department. The pedestrian died at the scene, Lt. David Chandroo said. The circumstances that led to the fatality were not immediately clear, the lieutenant said. — City News Service
