Starlink satellites from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. This mission marked the company’s sixth launch of the month and contributed to its ongoing efforts to expand its satellite internet constellation. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at precisely 5:47 p.m. EDT, demonstrating the reliability that has characterized SpaceX’s operations. Following a successful deployment into low Earth orbit (LEO), the rocket's first stage returned to Earth, landing on the droneship "A Shortfall of Gravitas" in the Atlantic Ocean.
A Falcon 9 rocket topped with 23 Starlink spacecraft lifted off from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station today at 5:10 p.m. EDT (2110 GMT).
The Falcon 9's first stage came back to Earth for a vertical touchdown about eight minutes after liftoff as planned. It landed on the SpaceX droneship "A Shortfall of Gravitas," which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean.
SpaceX has been sending up DTC Starlinks in batches of 13. It did encounter a setback though during the Starlink 9-3 mission, when an upper stage failure caused the loss of those 20 Starlink satellites. Had that launch been successful, there would be 273 DTC Starlinks on orbit.
In a post-launch statement on X (formerly Twitter), Ben Longmier, the senior director of satellite engineering for SpaceX, said their DTC constellation will be completed after five more successful missions.
The 45th Weather Squadron had predicted a 75% chance of favorable weather during the Wednesday, October 30 launch window. The risk of upper winds and poor booster recovery weather were stated to be low.
Florida launch?Scrub recap: SpaceX launch from Cape Canaveral to tie record
Being in the Group 10 Starlink, this launch traveled in a northeast trajectory. No local sonic booms were expected, as just after eight minutes, the first stage booster landed out on a SpaceX droneship in the Atlantic Ocean.
This launch not only reinforced SpaceX’s dominant position in satellite communications but also tied last year's record for launches from the Space Coast with a total of 72 missions . As of now, SpaceX operates over 6,400 Starlink satellites in orbit and continues to enhance global internet coverage through this innovative megaconstellation. With more launches planned in the near future, SpaceX is poised to further solidify its role as a leader in aerospace technology and satellite deployment.
