By Hanna Ziady, CNN London (CNN) — Germany narrowly avoided a recession in the third quarter, official data showed Wednesday, offering the latest evidence of the faltering fortunes of Europe’s biggest economy. Gross domestic product rose 0.2% in the July-to-September period, following a 0.3% contraction in the three months prior, according to Germany’s Federal Statistical Office (Destatis). Destatis revised downwards figures for the second quarter from a previous estimate of a 0.1% contraction.
