The Nationals are planning to select infielder Trey Lipscomb, reports Andrew Golden of The Washington Post. Lipscomb would replace Nick Senzel on the active roster. The third baseman broke his thumb in practice before Washington’s Opening Day game. The Nationals’ 40-man roster is full, so the team will need to make a corresponding move to add Lipscomb. That move could be placing Senzel on the 60-day IL, although a broken thumb doesn’t always necessitate such a long stint on the injured list.
