I never ran before getting sick. Most days, my health was a constant I didn't even think to acknowledge - a kind of ignorance I almost envy now. After contracting COVID and surviving two strokes, I spent months in and out of hospitals, focusing only on recovery. My resting heart rate remained in the triple digits and something as innocuous as a catchy song could throw my health back into turmoil. Most of my time was spent completely and utterly still.
