On a seemingly ordinary day in San Diego, a rare and unexpected event occurred that left residents in awe. A tornado, an uncommon phenomenon in this region, touched down without warning, causing a stir among the locals. However, despite the initial panic and fear that often accompanies such natural disasters, no damage was reported.
The tornado's arrival was met with astonishment as residents watched in disbelief. The swirling winds and dark clouds created an eerie atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the city's typically sunny disposition. People hurriedly sought shelter indoors while others captured the extraordinary sight on their cameras.
The National Weather Service plays a crucial role in monitoring and predicting weather patterns across the country. Their expertise and advanced technology enable them to issue timely warnings, allowing people to take necessary precautions. In the case of San Diego County, the tornado warning was issued due to unusual atmospheric conditions that indicated a potential threat.
El Cajon, La Mesa, and Santee, three cities northeast of central San Diego, are included in the warning until 12:45 p.m. local time on Tuesday.
This comes as a historic and deadly storm caused hundreds of mudslides in Southern California, which remains under multiple flood warnings.
The record-setting storm system was expected to drop up to 3 inches of rain in San Diego as well as Los Angeles throughout Tuesday and Wednesday. Concerns of flooding and mudslides have escalated because the ground is heavily saturated in many areas.

The account says Jackie has spent 35 hours atop her eggs, protecting them from ravens, snow and overnight low temperatures in the 20s — soon to be in the teens. Shadow has been running errands — grabbing fluff and sticks for the nest when weather allows, the account said.
The Friends of Big Bear Valley warned that continued precipitation and strong winds overnight could knock the 24-hour-a-day webcam out of service temporarily. If only it had the fortitude of Jackie.
