The recent arrest of former Kentucky basketball star Rajon Rondo on drug and firearm charges has sent shockwaves through the sports community. Rondo, known for his exceptional skills on the court, is now facing serious legal consequences that could tarnish his once-stellar reputation.

ISP says they began to get reports of a 2022 Tesla driving recklessly on the interstate in Bartholomew County around 1 p.m. Sunday. Troopers saw the vehicle as it entered Jackson County and conducted a traffic stop.
Rajon P. Rondo, the trooper said they smelled marijuana inside the vehicle. Troopers searched the vehicle and found suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a firearm.
Rondo is prohibited from possessing a firearm because of a protection order in place against him.
After the search, Rondo was arrested and taken to the Jackson County Jail. He placed bond and was released. A juvenile who was in the car with Rondo at the time of the arrest was released to a family member.
Rondo will soon be scheduled for an initial appearance in the Jackson County Superior Court.
Rondo played 16 seasons in the NBA, most recently with the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2021-22 season.

Rondo was a four-time NBA all star. He ranks 14th all-time with 7,584 assists.
That emergency protective order was dismissed in June 2022 after both parties “reached an agreement,” according to court records. In March 2023, another EPO was taken out against Rondo by the same woman. That case ended when the sides agreed to the currently binding court order in August.
Rondo started his high school career in Louisville and returned to the state as a star guard with the Kentucky Wildcats. He was a first-round pick of the Phoenix Suns in 2006 and played 16 seasons in the NBA, winning championships in 2008 with the Boston Celtics and 2020 with the Los Angeles Lakers.
