The Phoenix Suns' recent victory over the Dallas Mavericks, with a score of 132-109, marks their seventh consecutive win. This impressive winning streak is a testament to the team's exceptional skills and determination. As a fan of the Suns, I strongly believe that this accomplishment should not be overlooked.
Firstly, the Suns' consistent success demonstrates their ability to work together as a cohesive unit. Each player understands their role on the court and contributes effectively towards achieving victory. This level of teamwork is rare in professional sports and sets them apart from other teams.
The Mavericks lost for the third game in a row as they dropped to 24-20 while the red-hot Suns continued to climb in the Western Conference standings. Their seventh consecutive victory moved them to 26-18.
“We didn’t execute anything defensively,” coach Jason Kidd said. “Book was going and when he gets going, he’s one of the best at the midrange and getting to the basket.
“And he doesn’t have to go get it in the first quarter. He was patient and he picked his spots and took advantage of it.”
Devin Booker and his 38 points sitting, the Mavericks worked what was at one point a 28-point lead down to 16, forcing a Suns timeout three minutes into the fourth. Dallas couldn’t keep the momentum alive though, and the Mavericks simply didn’t have enough defense or offense to get back in the game. The Suns buried the Mavericks, 132-109. It’s one of the worst losses of the season and the vibes are awful.
Kevin Durant, still fairly new to the Dallas-Phoenix dynamic, had 12 points and 10 rebounds as the Suns opened a seven-game road trip, their longest this season, by turning a 16-point deficit in the second quarter into a 22-point lead after outscoring Dallas 43-20 in the third.
Kyrie Irving was out for the Mavericks, who have lost four of five, after spraining his right thumb early in a loss to Boston two nights earlier. It was the 22nd time in 44 games Dallas has played without one or both of its stars.
As for the Suns, they are the sixth seed in the Western Conference with a 25-18 record in their first 43 games.
They are one of the hottest teams in the league and are in the middle of a seven-game winning streak.
In addition, they are 7-3 over their last ten games and are 11-7 in the 18 games they have played on the road away from Arizona.
