Rick Harrison’s son Adam dead at 39

Rick Harrison’s son, Adam, passing away at the young age of 39 has shocked and saddened fans around the world. As the star of the hit reality TV show "Pawn Stars," Rick Harrison has become a household name, but this tragic event reminds us that even those in the public eye are not immune to personal tragedy.

Adam was known for his warm personality and his passion for history. He often appeared on "Pawn Stars" alongside his father, sharing his knowledge and expertise with viewers. A representative for the family confirmed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Adam Harrison's death was believed to be from an overdose.

“Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam. We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss,” a statement on behalf of the family and shared with multiple media outlets said. 

Pawn Stars informed the news outlet that Adam recently succumbed to a fatal overdose. The family learned about this today. Adam, one of Rick's three sons, has mostly kept a low profile in relation to Rick's show and store. Rick has three boys in total - Adam and Corey with his first wife, Kim, and Jake with his second wife, Tracy.

Las Vegas Metro Police Department confirmed with TMZ that an investigation into his death has been opened.

"Our family is extremely saddened by the death of Adam. We ask for privacy as we grieve his loss," Herlovich shared with the Las Vegas Review-Journal on behalf of the Harrison family.

Adam was not on the unscripted series — which stars Rick and Corey. Adam reportedly worked at Gold & Silver Pawn prior to the series' 2009 premiere. However, he has not recently worked at the pawn shop, reports TMZ.

Herlovich and the Las Vegas Metro Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for more information on Friday.
