KUALA LUMPUR: A strong earthquake, with a magnitude of 6.0 on the Richter scale, occurred at 1.19pm today off the northwest coast of Sumatra, Indonesia, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department.It said in a statement that the earthquake with a depth of 19 kilometres (km) occurred at a distance of 323km west of Simeulue, Indonesia.However, it did not pose a tsunami threat to Malaysia, it said. - Bernama
