Republican Yemen The Houthi group, Iran’s proxy in Yemen, has suspended sessions of the internationally unrecognized parliament upon the order of Mahdi Almashat, president of the so-called Supreme Political Council. According to sources familiar with the matter, Almashat ordered the suspension of the parliament sessions until speaker of the Houthi-controlled House of Representatives quits his post. Abdo Beshr, a member of the Houthi-controlled parliament commented in a statement describing the order as “madness” that serves the aggression, referring to the Saudi-led coalition that intervened in 2015 to restore the internationally recognized government and end the Houthi coup.
