Macaulay Culkin, star of ’90s classics “Home Alone” and “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” among many other titles, received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame this week. There to congratulate him was his onscreen mom from the beloved franchise, Catherine O’Hara.

O’Hara – who famously realized she left her son “Kevin!” home while on a plane to France for Christmas in the 1990 Chris Columbus and John Hughes movie – said on Friday that the reason “Home Alone” was and is so beloved is because of Culkin. She also made 1992's Home Alone 2: Lost in New York with Culkin, said the star brings his "sweet and twisted, yet totally relatable" sense of humor to every project he does. "It's a sign of intelligence in a child and a key to survival at any age," she said of humor.

"I believe you'd have to possess a certain quality," O'Hara said. "A gift that dear John Hughes obviously recognized in Macaulay." Of his sense of humor, "It's a sign of intelligence in a child and a key to survival at any age," she added. "You have brought that sense of sweet yet twisted, yet totally relatable, sense of humor to everything you have chosen to do since Home Alone."

O'Hara concluded her speech by thanking Culkin for including her, "your fake mom that left you home alone not once but twice," to "share in this happy occasion." After sharing a hug, Culkin wiped away tears.

"It's a sign of intelligence in a child, and a key to surviving life at any age. And you have, from what I see ... brought that sense of sweet, yet twisted, yet totally relatable sense of humor to everything that you have chosen to do since 'Home Alone.'"

In the first "Home Alone" movie -- as well as its sequel -- O'Hara played Kate McAllister, the mother of Kevin McAllister, portrayed by Culkin, a young boy who mistakenly gets left behind over the holidays and defends his home against a pair of burglars on Christmas Eve. The sequel saw Kevin stranded in New York City during the holidays and fighting the same criminals from the first film.

Culkin brought things full-circle in his speech and paid tribute to his time playing Kevin McCallister.

"In the spirit of the holiday season, I just want to say: Merry Christmas, ya filthy animals," he exclaimed after thanking the people who helped him over the years.
