CANTON — Watterson’s quest for its first state title in 13 years came to a screeching halt Friday against a dominant state power. Toledo Central Catholic took advantage of three Eagles turnovers, scoring touchdowns after all three, and never let Watterson’s offense get untracked after an early touchdown in cruising to a 27-7 win in the Division III state championship at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium. The Irish (16-0) captured their second title in a row, having won in Division II a season ago, and denied Watterson (14-2) its third title and first since its previous final appearance in 2010.
