Miami Heat and Boston Celtics will face off in Boston for their second game of the regular season.
For the game, both teams have finalized their injury reports and starting lineups.
The Heat have ruled out Caleb Martin, Josh Richardson and Haywood Highsmith.
Meanwhile, Duncan Robinson and Jaime Jaquez Jr. have been upgraded to available.
Derrick White is the one who pops up with the tip-in here.
White was fouled and connected on both free throws. Herro got open for another 3-point try but came up empty. The Celtics pushed the ball up the floor and Brown sealed it with a 3 from the wing.
“Tonight we were intentional,” Mazzulla said. “We attacked the right matchups. We got to our spots. ... We still didn't play great fourth-quarter basketball. But for Game 2 of what we're trying to get to it was a good start.”
After a couple of free throws from Jimmy Butler at the other end, Jayson Tatum then drove to the rack for a loud, driving slam at the rim. Tatum, however, was whistled for Boston’s second delay-of-game penalty following the dunk, which allowed Butler to make another free throw off of a technical foul.
The Celtics did not slow down from there, though. They built upon their lead by going to the hottest hand of the night: Derrick White.
Jrue Holiday drove the ball in transition and kicked it to the left sideline to White, who had already scored nine points in the quarter. White caught the pass and immediately drilled a 3-pointer from in front of Miami’s bench to make it a 109-101 game while bringing the TD Garden crowd to its feet.
Brissett averaged a respectable 8.1 points per game over his previous three seasons with the Indiana Pacers but may find scoring opportunities hard to come by in Boston's loaded offense. He seems to be embracing his role as the Celtics' spark plug, however -- much in the way Aaron Nesmith played with reckless abandon during his two seasons in Boston -- and his teammates appreciate him for it.
This victory was never in doubt for Boston the rest of the way, as they wound up closing out a 119-111 win.
